Growing up in today's world can be challenging, with so much to learn, the pressures of school and social life, and the journey of discovering yourself and where you fit in. Spending time outdoors is a great way to step away from it all, connect with nature, and enjoy a break from life’s complexities. Here at the Heart of England ºÚÁÏ´«ËÍÃÅ, we love being outdoors and would love to share that experience with you.

Learn about the outdoors Ìý

The natural world is full of discoveries and inspiration, yet many of us don’t spend much time outdoors. Ìý

At Young ºÚÁÏ´«ËÍÃÅers, learning something new is at the heart of what we do. Each session introduces you to a new skill or discovery in nature—whether it’s identifying wildlife, whittling with crafting knives, or learning which forest berries are safe to eat and cook with. Ìý

Nature is full of wonders, and even our team continues to learn something new every day!

Volunteering and careers Ìý

Young ºÚÁÏ´«ËÍÃÅers is the perfect starting point if you're considering a career working outdoors. Have you or a young person you know ever thought about becoming a Countryside Ranger, Livestock Manager, or Biodiversity Officer? Ìý

Every session includes a hands-on volunteering experience where you can make a real impact on nature. In winter, young foresters have the opportunity to plant trees and coppice young woodlands. During the summer, activities may include visiting our tree nursery or conducting wildlife surveys in the ºÚÁÏ´«ËÍÃÅ. Ìý

No matter the season, it's always an incredible feeling to give back to nature! Ìý

I started volunteering when I was 14 with my local woodland, which has helped set my path to working as a Countryside Ranger and then leading our enthusiastic volunteers here at the Heart of England ºÚÁÏ´«ËÍÃÅ. While you are young you have so many options ahead of you, why not give something new a try, it could lead you down a life-changing path!

Plenty of fun! Ìý

Young ºÚÁÏ´«ËÍÃÅers is a great opportunity to play outdoors and connect with like-minded people. Learn to build dens, make a campfire, cook over an open fire, and explore the woods. Ìý

No matter your age, everyone needs a chance to have fun, unwind, and enjoy the outdoors! Ìý
